For Your Book of Law - The Four Agreements

In your book of law write down the bad memories of your childhood that still taunt you.

What is the memory?

Who was the perpetrator?

Now look at it from your adult eyes.

Is the perpetrator someone to whom you should give authority?

Is the perpetrator's opinion valid?  More valid than yours?

Write the agreement that was made at that event.
Is this agreement true, or the result of evil?

Take a look at all the things you have written so far.  Take your time, look at each individual entry.  Finish the following sentences,

I cannot live my life without the Judge because:
I cannot live my life without the Victim because:

My opinion is always right because....

If I am not right, this will happen.....

If I say how I feel, this will happen....

If I tell the truth, this will happen....

  1. After completing this exercise I learned:
Growing up I always listened to what my parents had to say. They were my parents so I looked up to them as the ultimate source of knowledge. As a result, their opinions of people became my opinions about people. But now that I am an adult, I have realized that they are not always right and that blindly following what they thought resulted in false opinions and lost relationships. The agreement made when I was a child was: "Family is always right." This saying in itself is false because following this agreement only brought volatile emotions that I now realize were the result of listening to people who are unhappy with their own lives and like to spread the negativity. I am slowly breaking free from their pattern and trying to live a life of positivity. Therefore:
I cannot live my life without the Judge because the judge is me.
I cannot live my life without the Victim because the victim is me.
My opinion is always right because I only know my own opinion, not others'.
If I am not right, this will happen: I will agree to try to change for the good of myself.
If I say how I feel, this will happen: I will release any negativity into the atmosphere to float away.
If I tell the truth, this will happen: The poison that comes with lying will not drain me.
