There was a Christian religious club I was in that gave me the same type of uncomfortable and creepy feel that this gave me. I immediately left the club and never went back. Religion can go in two ways generally, moderate and extreme. This video and the club that I was in represent the extreme, and the extreme religious fanatics take their word and teachings too far to an almost cult level. Religion shouldn't be a cult; it should be a way of joining people together for good and for peace
I don't understand what they are doing around 1:10. I went to church for 8 years and my parents made me go all the way through Confirmation and I never experienced anything like that. I agree with Elizabeth this is probably the extreme of the extreme, but the parents of the children are sending them. Are they brain washed by the religion? Who knows. I watch "Sister Wives" (guilty pleasure) and one of their daughters was dead set on living life plural marriage until she went to college, and she said it opened up her mind and her beliefs changed and she realized she no longer aligned with the church and left the church. Sometimes when it is all the children know, it is not that they are "brainwashed" they just need more experiences.
Guess it depends if you consider yourself religious or not, I can see it from both perspectives. I used to be religious as a child so I know how to some people this is normal, but to others who are minimally religious or not at all it could be viewed as brainwashing.
I have heard of the documentary Jesus Camp, but I have never actually seen the film. After seeing these highlights I may want to watch the full thing, this is an extreme measure. What i found the most interesting I think is how they were trying to wash their hands and clean their sins away, but they were just using a water bottle to wash their hands, not even holy water.
